The Earth is Shaking - WEEK 4
So you may or may not have heard, but there was a 7.1 earthquake here in Mexico City. It is the second one that we have had since I have been here but this is the only one I felt. Thanks to it, I have learned what my priorities are in a potentially life threatening situation and turns out having clean hands is at the top. I had just come out of the bathroom when the ground started moving and instead of immediately running outside into one of these big green circles in the street that we are supposed to go to during earthquakes, I made sure to wash my hands. Probably not my best move, but i am alive so I guess it is fine. "Book smart, not street smart" is what my mom always said. Guess some things never change! Anyways it didn't end up being too bad here at the CCM but there is quite a bit of damage and lost lives in the city and other parts of Mexico so remember to send some prayers down this way!
We also had the sickest storm on Sunday evening. We were all a little weirded out at the fact that it hadn't really rained since the last Monday and then suddenly we were in our classroom on Sunday and the storm came out of nowhere and doors werent staying shut and you couldn't hear much because of the pounding rain and thunder and things were blowing around inside because of open windows and it was so cool. turns out I really love thunderstorms. However we did slightly panic because we thought our window in our house was open and me and Hermana Robison had scriptures on our table by the window but it wasnt so we were saved! hallelujah! It had pretty much stopped in time to get to our evening devotional but started again while we were there so we had to book it afterwards across the campus to our house on the other side and just got a tad bit wet and couldn't see and nearly slipped every 4 seconds but it was a good time!
We went to the temple again last Pday and i got the cutest HLJ(ctr) ring that I love and I just mostly love the temple! it feels so good to take a few hours out of your day to serve people who can't receive these blessings any other way. I encourage you to go as often as you can!
We started doing what is called TRC on saturdays where we teach people that volunteer to come in (usually members) but it is cool because they are real people and not just our teachers so it is a different feeling in the lessons. I was surprisingly not nervous at all and Hermana Young was, which was weird for both of us, and I am super excited to do it again this week!
Our district leader, Elder Franc, is super awesome and puts together family home evening games for our district and this week it was "Are you smarter than a primary child?" And the answer is no. none of us are smarter. He got all the questions from the primary lesson manuals and they were insanely hard so RIP the self esteem of these 10 missionaries. Its chill guys nbd.
We got to do another broadcast from Provo for our tuesday night devotional which is so awesome because apparently they usually happen every few months and we got to do it twice!!! We heard from Elder Cook and his wife and it was so awesome!! The coolest part was at the end when he was talking about how we have been instructed for sacred things to remain sacred but he felt the need to share a specific testimony of Jesus Christ. He testified that Jesus Christ still directs his church today, especially when it comes to missionary work. And then at the end said, "I know his voice, I know his face. I am a sure witness that Jesus Christ lives." Like what??? Thats so cool! And the spirit was so strong and you could just feel the power and truth of his words even though we were in a completely different country watching on a screen. It was amazing. I love hearing from general authorites! I am so pumped for conference guys!! Remember that the womens conference is this weekend! I wont be watching it until next saturday when the elders watch the priesthood session but all you ladies should remember to listen!
I love you all! Thanks for you letters and prayers! Keep sending them! Have the best week!!
