WEEK 1

HEY FRIENDS!!! I've been at the MTC for about a week and a half now and I can't even explain how much I love it here. It just feels different. The moment we arrived and got out of the car you could tell this place was special. I couldn't stop smiling for the longest time. We didn't get to the MTC until like 7 o'clock at night because the person picking us up had to pick up 4 of us and the other hermana was on a different flight that had been delayed so we had to wait a while. The cool thing though was that I got to know the other two elders on my flight while we were waiting (i didn't see them until I got off the plane so I was convinced I was alone) and one of them turned out to be in my district so wahoo!!

My companion' s name is Hermana Young and she's super fun. She's really smart and wayyyyy better at Spanish than me so it's a blessing she is always able to explain what is going on lol. My favorite thing about her is that she starts laughing really hard, she starts squeaking and it's hilarious. The hermanas are super outnumbered by elders here so most districts only have one companionship of hermanas but ours is the best because we have two!! And all 4 of us share a room so we are super close and have the best time! I love my district with all my heart!! We have 3 sets of elders and everybody just gets along so well and tries to do everything together. One thing we started doing that I love is that at night we all do our personal study in our classroom, but before we start we go around and say two positive things that happened today and a lot of the time people say such good things about their companions or their district and it just is so uplifting. There's usually some spiritual thoughts shared as well. I think our district is the best because we have so much fun together but we also really know how to invite the spirit. We've had a few people comment on how well they can feel the spirit when they accidentally walk into the room when we have been sharing scriptures or thoughts or testimonies with each other. Everybody is so strong in the gospel here and my testimony has already grown so much stronger because of it!! It's seriously the best!

Spanish is real hard dudes. We started to teach our investigator, Nayeli, on our SECOND DAY. what!? I still can't believe we did that. I literally knew nothing. It was a really really hard day for me but the blessing of it was that I had never been brought to my knees in such complete humility, pleading for the help and comfort of my Savior. It was an incredible experience, hard as it was. I don't know what I expected the gift of tongues to be like but I think at least part of me expected it to work a lot quicker. But update: I am not suddenly fluent so bummer. I heard a quote today that I really like though. It says "it's not an event of learning the language, it's a journey of loving the people." It's so true guys. That's what it's all about. Everything we do on a mission is to bring others closer to Christ. I'm not in the CCM to learn Spanish. I'm here to learn how to show people the light and the love of Christ and show them the abundance of blessings that comes from living this gospel. Spanish is just a means of doing that.

The food here is pretty good. I'm trying my very very best to not be a picky eater because they told us to try not to waste food because a lot of the workers here sometimes have less food in their entire house than we are throwing away. I've liked nearly everything I've tried though. Ranch here is different which super upsets me!! I try to be all healthy and eat salads and stuff but it's hard when the dressing is weird and they only have like two toppings, one which is some sketch cheese and another that looks like oddly shaped, sketchy, mini hot dogs. They always have toast though which has saved me a few times because they also have nutella and peanut butter and jam so I have a variety of toast toppings to pick from. Good times.

It rains SO MUCH here!! Especially on tuesdays when we get new missionaries. I don't know how and I don't know why,  but it is a real thing.

Everybody that works here is just so great!! The mission presidency and their wives are all so nice and they try to learn everybody's names which is so awesome because there are over 700 people here. And the teachers are amazing! WOW how i love my teachers so much!!! Hermana Aguirre is our morning teacher and she is the cutest. We had a real deep heart to heart in the hallway last friday and i just love her. Hermana Gutierrez is our afternoon teacher and she is also amazing. She was "Nayeli" while we were teaching and is so nice and gives such good feedback. She is super helpful. I love her a lot too.

I don't have many pictures yet but this is me and hermana young, two of the girls that live next to us, and then hermanas Gillespie and Robison on the right. Then just a few pictures from the CCM and a picture of the elders in our district who decided to be cute like that when we said we were taking their picture. I'll try to get more soon!

In a way it has been a really long week and a half since I didn't get a P-day the whole first week and then had to wait all the way until friday this week, but it also seems fast. The first week was really long because it is so hard. Everybody just tells you "make it to Sunday and then it flies by." I was skeptical at first but, ya know, I think they might be right because this week has been crazy fast. I'll be out of here in no time, which is exciting, but also scares the living daylights out of me because I barely speak spanish. Oh well! I love getting letters and emails and I can read them as soon as I get them, I just can't so please email me whenever you feel so inclined because gettings updates (especially pictures and videos) is super motivating and uplifting midweek! my parents sent me donuts and cookies and Arizonas this week and everytime they send me a letter I cry so shoutout to them for being the best. GUYS I CRY SO MUCH HAHAHA. I've never been a spiritual crier until now plus I've become super emotional, but don't worry, I'm good! Esta bien! I have honestly never done something so hard in my entire life. In one week I have experienced the lowest of lows and the highest of highs but guys I cannot even explain how rewarding it is. I have never done something so completely worth every second of my literal blood, sweat, and tears. The gospel is so true. I know it with every fiber of my being. I'm so grateful for this opportunity and so grateful to everyone that has got  me here. You all mean the world to me!

Love you lots!!
Hermana Galli

scripture of the week: D&C 68:6 "Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come."
