WEEK 3

Okay am I really over the CCM hump already? That is crazy man I literally have barely any time left here and I feel like I just got here so that is wack.

So this week I had to speak in church IN SPANISH so that was a stressful time. They don't tell you who is going to have to speak each week until you are in sacrament meeting so everybody just has to come prepared with a talk just in case because you get about a 5 second notice. But the other hermanas in my district said I gave the best talk and that one of our branch presidency members only paid attention and seemed interested in mine so that made me feel good! I am literally so awkward though guys this was such a classic moment: so I am up there reading my talk off of my piece of paper and I get to this part where it is sort of repetitive or some of the words were just phrased similarly and I thought that I had started rereading a line over again accidentally but actually hadn't but I don't know spanish so I honestly had no idea what I was saying so I suddently stopped and was like "wait I already said that" and tried to find the right place but when I realized it was the right place I said "oh no I didn't" and literally evereyone was laughing at me but it is fine I embraced the awkwardness of the situation! And thus was the story of Madi's first sacrament talk in spanish. Glad it is over lol. Hopefully I don't get called this week too.

So the weather here is so bipolar it is ridiculous. First of all, why did nobody tell me how cold it gets here? It is MEXICO for crying out loud. Why is it so cold sometimes but soo hot the other days?? Basically the only thing you can count on for weather is that it will rain everyday. And it rains the hardest on tuesdays. So with this in mind, I was super excited to wear my rainboots this tuesday. BUT NO! I wore them and there was not a cloud in the sky the WHOLE day! What a sad time.

Another brief, classic story is that one day I was walking home with my Hermana Young and she has a bag that is pretty sqeaky and so she turns to me and says "man I just need some WD40" and I, trying to be all intelligent and know what she was talking about, asked, "Isn't that a tax form?" She didn't stop laughing for at least a few minutes. Turns out it is not a tax form. #funfactswithmadi

We got to go to the temple last week (and we get to go again today) AND IT WAS SO NEAT WOW GUYS I LOVE THE TEMPLE!!! Seriously it is was so beautiful. And they have this cute little store right by the parking lot with a whole bunch of like missionary and scripture stuff and I got some cute scriptures cases that I am pretty excited about. But for real dudes, go to the temple as much as you can because there is no other place on earth like it. The spirit there is sooo strong!! And you will get so many blessings from it!!

This week we started going on splits with latina companions and even if they know English, they aren't allowed to speak to you in English so that was an adventure to say the least! It was honestly better than I expected it to be even though they speak really fast, especially in the lessons. But my companion (hermana Segovia) seemed really proud of me after so that was comforting! Also my teacher, hermana Gutierrez asked me to write an advice letter for her other district for the people who didn't have any spanish background before the CCM either because I am improving a lot and they are having a harder time trying and having faith. So that made me feel good too! Also, Alexa agreed to baptism today and hopefully Tona will agree tomorrow!! YAY! And we got a new investigator named Mitzi that we start teaching next week in addition to the latina investigator and we get to be investigators for other missionaries which means we are also getting a missionary investigator so we are slowly getting crazier and working towards the amount of lessons we will have in the field so it is a good time!!

Choir is the best thing ever!! This week we sang a different arrangement of the EFY medley and the spanish music is so beautiful and wow that spirit was so strong. Having so many missionaries singing so triumphantly that we are as the army of Helaman was such an empowering moment that I will forever be grateful for.

Food for thought with Elder Brundrige: if the wizard of oz had a brick oven, do you think it would be a yellow brick oven?

also forgot to mention that there was an earthquake down here but i did not feel it even though some people did so that is good! Apparently lots and lots of people got hurt and lost their homes so send your love and prayers down here to Mexico! have the best week friends!!

That's all for this week friends!! Thank you all for your letters and prayers! They mean so much!! I love you all mucho!!

love,
hermana Galli

scripture of the week: Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness
