HOKEY POKEY ON ICE SKATES
Hi friends!
I hope you all had a fantastic week and have been participating in the light the world initiative! Friday night, my whole zone went to the town square and set up a cute table with a light the world sign and lots of pictures and pass along cards and books of Mormon and the lig t the world advent calendar and then we took turns singing Christmas carols and contacting people and handing out glow sticks to kinda launch the initiative and it was SO FUN! It's amazing how easy it is to go up to people and ask if they want to watch a video about Christmas but it does kinda throw you off when a person is like "I don't celebrate christmas." I just don't understand because I LOVE CHRISTMAS seriously it is the best time of year!! I'm so excited to be spending it here! The spirit of Christmas is just so strong everyday and I love getting to share the light the world initiative with people and remind people of the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of our savior Jesus Christ is the greatest gift of all!
Story about how incredibly awkward I am: (i blame my trainer) we were contacting these guys on the street on Friday night and showed them the light the world video and he was asking us what time church was at so we went to write the address of church on a pass along card for him but I had the thought "oh I wonder where he lives, that'll depend on what church he should go to" BUT THE THING IS the man was CLEARLY homeless! He had all of his stuff there with him and I just decided to ask "what streets do you live by?" As soon as I said it I wanted to sink through the floor because I knew I had made a mistake. Anyways his response was "I live by all streets" so me, trying to play it off, said "perfect!" In like this real high pitched uncomfy voice and he said "I'm currently homeless" and I just kinda laughed awkwardly and looked at hermana Hansen to save me because she's a gold star missionary and always saves me AHH I died ugh but it's fine. Hopefully he still went to church 😂
Fasting miracle: Manuel has been struggling for such a long time because he just wants to know if everything or anything is true but hasn't been getting answers so we invited him to fast with us on Sunday for his answer and then we went over last night and we were FINALLY able to set a baptismal date with him! YAY!! He's been so ready for so long and this has been the only thing holding him back and he finally got the answer and is so at peace with it and the idea of moving forward and we are SO EXCITED!! I'm seriously so happy for him!! January 14th is our goal! Also remember that fasting works! It's such an awesome tool we have to essentially ask for whatever blessing we want! Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy and cares about our desires so when we show him what things truly mean to us through these kinds of sacrifices, he makes miracles happen.
If you haven't had a chance to watch the first presidency's Christmas devotional from last night yet, make time for it this week! We weren't able to watch it last night but I heard great things about it and am so excited for it this week. We are so blessed to be able to hear from the general authorities so frequently!
Okay we had lots to do this P day so I am super short on time today and don't have time to reply to very many emails so I'm super sorry if I missed you but I will make sure to get everybody next week! I love you all so mucbba nd so greatly appreciate your letters and emails and taking that little time to think of me and send me updates! You guys make my day! I'm so blessed to have each of you in my life and just want you all to know that I have a testimony of this gospel and know that is the only true church on the earth. Jesus Christ suffered and diced for us and because of that he knows us personally and can comfort us in every situation and lift us from the darkest of sorrows and sins. Through the holy ghost we can feel God's love constantly. I'm so grateful for this gospel!
I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week!
love,

Scripture of the week: 1 Nephi 21:14-16 "But, behold, Zion hath said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me—but he will show that he hath not. For can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee, O house of Israel. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me"
