HI FRIENDS
Hi friends!
This week was exciting! My companion is an STL so she has to
go on exchanges with all of the sisters so that means that I also go on lots of
exchanges but I am with the companion of the other STL. So my half companion is
Sister Calder. Emphasis on the word sister. as in not hermana. as in she speaks
english and does not know an inkling of spanish. Meaning that when we are
working in our area IM THE ONLY ONE THAT SPEAKS SPANISH. Talk about stressful.
but good news: I taught my first lesson this week that was completely in
spanish while I was on exchanges with Sister Calder and it actually went pretty
well! I may not know entirely what she said but it was still a good lesson and
we were able to communicate. Such a tender mercy from the Lord! I definitely
had so much help and I am so grateful!!
Also this week we finally got Benjamin and Amelia to come to
church again and they were able to talk to bishop about their questions
concerning baptism and it was SO GOOD! We also fasted with them yesterday for
some things and they are just so close to baptism it is incredible. We
are meeting with them on Friday and hoping to set an official date with
them. They are so ready and I am so excited!
We had to move Manuels date back a few weeks but it was good
because we had a really awesome lesson with him and I think he realized just
how much of a desire he has to be baptized. So he wanted 3 more weeks to
prepare so we picked February 4th and are so excited! Unfortunately, he didnt
come to church yesterday but I hope he remembers how he felt that day. We are
making sure he reads at least a little bit of the book of mormon every day this
week and that he prays and hoping he notices the difference it makes. He is so
awesome and I am so excited for him.
We had the opportunity to watch President Monson's funeral
this week. I loved it. The tributes to him and some of the messages shared were
so inspiring. I am so grateful to have been able to grow up knowing him. I
loved his stories and I have learned so much from him. One of my favorite
quotes is "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a
person to be loved." I will miss him so much but I am so happy he is
reunited with his eternal companion and out of suffering. I am excited for this
new chapter in the Church's history. You have probably all heard but if for
some reason you have not, make sure to tune into the broadcast with President
Nelson on Tuesday at 9 am to hear who the new Presidency will be.
I love you all so much! I appreciate every email or note of
kindness and support that I get from you guys. I hope you have a wonderful
week!
love,
