GOODBYE PRESIDENT WRIGHT

Hi friends!

We saw so many miracles this week! So right before I got here, the Napa stake had girls camp and one of our members' niece brought her friend Maddie to camp. She loved it and then came to church and told the missionaries that she wanted to learn more and be baptized. So this past Monday we had our first lesson with her. Her mom, Christina, and her grandma, Patty, were also there. They just kept telling us how supportive they were and wanted to know how they could best help her. We then had the best restoration lesson and all 3 just had perfect comments and were asking all the right questions that led into the next principle or how to begin teaching points. It was honestly perfect! Christina is super excited to be on this journey with her daughter and kept saying how much she liked everything she was hearing so far. We were able to set a baptismal date with Maddie for August 4th and we are so so excited and so is she!! We had another lesson with them on Saturday and they accepted the plan of salvation really well and I think it answered a lot of Maddie's questions and fears. Then the 3 of them came to church on sunday!! And loved it! And we are going back tonight! They are some of the most prepared people I have ever met and I am just so excited to be working with them!

Another huge miracle was that we had 7 people come to church!! It was incredible and the biggest blessing! In Fairfield, we had the hardest time getting people to church and I think I had 6 people total in my 4 1/2 months there. And then to have 7 people come this week was just a blessing that I am so grateful for. So we had Maddie and her family, and then our other awesome friends, Liz and Bella. They are getting baptized in October! And then this was one we weren't expecting; we went to go visit a less active Hispanic lady the other day, her name is Luz, and we had a really good conversation with her. She usually works on Sundays so that's why she doesn't come and hasn't come in a long time. But her and her grandkids just walked right in (the ward is in English so it's super hard to get Spanish speakers there so we were so excited) and she said she had the day off so they decided to come!! IT WAS SO COOL!! Her grandkids are people we teach so Vivian and Gael were the other two. Wow it was the most amazing day!

The sad part about this week is that we had to say goodbye to President and sister Wright. That was really hard. They have made such a big influence on not only my mission, but my life. I'll forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know and love them. Even though it was heart breaking to see them go, I am excited to meet the Meservy's. I'll get to meet them on Wednesday and I am a little nervous but mostly excited to see what changes happen and to learn from them too!

Also in case you were wondering, there is a new preach my gospel! It's mostly the same but there are some cool updates! One thing to be aware of: we no longer use the term investigator but just people to teach. And I just want to share this quote from the first presidency in the introduction to the book.

"Preach My Gospel is as much for Church members as it is for the full-time missionaries of the Church."

I encourage you all to study preach my gospel and I promise that doing so will help you better understand the gospel, fulfill your duties as a member missionary, and help you in your day to day life.

Well thats all for this week. I'm loving Napa (other than finding a spider at least daily in our house - please pray for me to not die) and I am so grateful to be a missionary right now! I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week!

love,

Scripture of the week: D&C 38:40-41
40 And again, I say unto you, I give unto you a commandment, that every man, both elder, priest, teacher, and also member, go to with his might, with the labor of his hands, to prepare and accomplish the things which I have commanded.
41 And let your preaching be the warning voice, every man to his neighbor, in mildness and in meekness.
