HAPPY PIONEER DAY
Hey friends! I hope you've had a fantastic week!
We have seen lots of miracles this week! At the beginning of
the week, our zone leaders called us and were trying to get us pumped up and
excited to work super hard this week. They asked if we were willing to do everything
we could to be successful and we of course said yes. And then they asked if we
were going to find 4 new people to teach and in the heat of the moment, I said
"yeah 4 each!!" Guys, 8 is a LOT of people to find in one week. But
it then became the goal and we were really excited about it. But some things
got moved around with Maddies baptism (I'll explain in a minute) so that took
up a lot of our time and come Saturday we had only found 1 person so far. We
decided we wanted to fast to help us to find lots of the people God had been
preparing to hear the gospel, but hermana young has some health issues that
make it hard to fast so instead of food, we decided to fast from English! Well,
as much as we could considering a lot of the people we talk to our English
speakers. And then we went out to work and it was amazing! We were able to find
4 people that day and then Sunday we found one more. I'm super excited to work
with all of them! No, we didn't reach our goal of 8, but we found 6 different
people who all need the gospel and we learned that when we show the Lord we are
willing to put in all on the sacrifice altar and work hard, he really does
guide you and bless you.
So Maddie and her baptism! We met with them last Monday and
were trying to grt thingd put together for her baptism on August 4th. But the
date kept getting moved around because the person she wanted to baptize her
wouldn't be there, and then the next week was stake conference and all these
different factors with her mom's schedule. But it ended up getting moved to
THIS FRIDAY, the 27th! I AM SO EXCITED!!! She's just so ready and we are so
excited that she doesn't need to wait any longer. Everything is coming together
really well! Which is awesome but also a little unnerving because we are
waiting for a huge hiccup. It wouldn't be a baptism without one so we will see
how it all goes this week haha. But I'm so happy for her and so grateful to
have been a part of her learning and progressing towards this day!
I got to go on exchanges with Sister Zoglio this week and it
was super fun! I went up to St. Helena and it was an exciting day. I was a
little nervous because this area is a zebra area, meaning one sister is serving
a Spanish speaking mission and one is serving an english speaking mission.
Sister zoglio is the English speaking missionary so I was going to an area I
didn't know with a decent amount of Spanish work and my companion wasn't going
to know what was going on for some of it haha. But it actually ended up being
way easier than i thought! The Spanish came really naturally and I got to talk
to so many hispaanic people and I realized how much I loved and missed them.
We've been doing a lot more English work in my area lately and it was so nice
to go and remember how friendly and generous and easy to talk to the Hispanic
people are. It made me really miss serving in a Spanish unit. But I know I'm
where the lord needs me and I'm so grateful to get to work with the English
people too, like Maddie. But I do hope I go back to a Spanish branch one day
haha.
Well that about sums up some
highlights of my week. I hope you have a super fun Pioneer Day! I love you!
love,

Scripture of the week: 3 Nephi 14:9-11
9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son ask bread,
will give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto
your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good
things to them that ask him?
