I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT MASHED POTATOES AND STUFFING
Hi friends!
This week we met this SUPER COOL girl named Mckenzie. Her and her husband, Will, were listed in our areabooks as "people with interest" but there wasn't much info on them. Hermana Young and I had stopped by before and met Will but he was busy and told us that Fridays could be a good day to come back. So this past week we went again and met Mckenzie and their little daughter, Monroe. Mckenzie instantly recognized us and seemed super nice and it turns out that she grew up in Salt Lake City and went to church with her grandparents but was never baptized. But she told us that she knew exactly what we were doing and after a little while said that she would love to invite us back over. She isnt super religious right now, but her husband is Christian so we are so excited to get to know them more and see if we can help McKenzie to feel what her grandparents feel. It was such a blessing to find them!! We have definitely been struggling to find people lately and I think this just showed both of us that if you have patience and trust in God's timing and keep working, he will lead you to where you need to go.
Okay, can I just say that I LOVE Maddie Patch?! Her, Hermana Gardner, and I have gotten really close lately! Her weekly lessons are one of my favorite parts of the whole week. If I am being honest, she is still struggling with the gospel a bit. She isn't surrounded by much gospel support or just great influences in general and that is one of the reasons that I think its so important that we have such a good relationship with her and help her to make good friends in the gospel. I love being able to feel so close to someone that we are teaching because it really makes teaching so much easier. We know that there is trust there and we also know that we can both be completely open with each other about how things are going and what we can do to help. The cool thing about missions is that you make lifelong relationships, and Maddie is one person that I know I will never forget.
We had a lesson with a recent convert in the 2nd ward, Greg, and it was... interesting, haha. He is great and definitely has a testimony but he is SO QUIET. it was kinda hard to get to know him because he just doesnt like to talk at all, and then I didnt really know how to teach him because he doesnt like to share thoughts or opinions or desires about anything. So I am excited to try and figure out how to teach in a way that will really help him because it definitely is going to have to be different than how we teach most people.
We had exchanges with the sisters in St. Helena and I got to be with Hermana Ross! I LOVE HER!! She goes home in 2 weeks :( we first met when we served in the same ward in Santa Rosa a year ago and it has been so much fun to be around her again. fun fact: she got transferred to Rosa last year on November 14th and our exchange was on November 14th so we got to spend our friendaversary together!!! How neat is that?? We had a great day! My favorite part was getting to go up to the Veterans home in our area. There is a small group of members that meets in the hospital chapel up there every sunday and we get to attend. One of those members is a man named Gary that was baptized in July. So we got to go up and visit with him and a few other members. I hadnt had too much time to get to know Gary yet so it was so great to get to sit down with him and hear some of his stories as well as talk about the gospel. He has so much faith!! he was referencing all sorts of scriptures and then he would turn things we said and ask us questions to make us think and I just loved it. He has a really strong testimony and I am grateful to know and learn from him!!
Well friends, I hope you have the BEST Thanksgiving ever and take some time to thank your Heavenly Father for all the blessings he has given you. I love you all!!❤
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Galli
